Primary Schools

Children may be given the opportunity to start school at the beginning of the academic year in which they turn five but must start school no later than the beginning of the term in which they turn five.

The States of Jersey operates 22 non-fee paying primary schools. Additionally there are two fee-paying primary schools in the States sector. Non-fee paying primary schools accept children from their catchment area.
To register, phone or write to the primary school giving the child’s name, date of birth and address. Parents should register their children by 1 February of the school year before their child is due to start school full time.

Parents who want their children to attend a primary school outside their catchment area must first register with their catchment school. They must indicate on the registration form that they would prefer that their child be placed in another primary school.
