The unspoilt beautiful Portelet Bay is situated southwest of the island and is surrounded by granite cliffs providing a sun trap at this idyllic beach. The golden sands and clear waters are perfect conditions for swimming and snorkelling along with many rock pools to explore.
In the centre of the bay there is a small island, Ile au Guerdain with a tower on it accessible at low tide.
Located on the beach is Portelet Bay Cafe which specialises in authentic wood fire pizza, seasonal fish and salads and are no shops.
To get down to the beach you do have a steep climb via a long stairway and therefore is unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
At the top of Portelet bay, you will find the Old Portelet Inn which serves both lunch and evening meals and is one of the oldest pubs in Jersey dating back to the 16th century with many original features inside.
You will also find cliff path walks with breathtaking views of the area.
There are public toilets and plenty of free parking.
Visitors can also reach the beach via bus route 12 or 12a of the public bus service.
