Off the beaten track is Plemont Beach on Jersey’s north west coast and with the high rocky cliffs either side makes it a sheltered beach perfect for sunbathing. This is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful beaches with its stunning rock formations and clear blue waters. Perfect for families with numerous rock pools and a network of caves with a natural waterfall making it a great place to explore. You’ll need to check the tide times as high tide covers this sandy beach and you’ll need to relocate to the rocks until it recedes.
The gentle waves make it safe bathing when the sea is calm, but only for the strongest of swimmers when an Atlantic swell brings breakers rolling in. Lifeguards are located at Plemont during the summer months.
The access to the beach is down a steep flight of steps and if you are fit and able to, its well worth it.
At the top of the steps is a cafe offering a good selection of food and drinks overlooking the beach where on a clear day have views across to Guernsey, Herm and Sark islands.
There are plenty of walks in the area and popular for bird spotting and may even see the elusive Puffin.
Parking near the cafe is very limited and there is some at the top of the cliffs although it does tend to fill up quick so it is best to get here early as many of the locals will spend the day enjoying all that Plemont has to offer.
Visitors can reach the beach via bus route 8 of the public bus service.
