La Corbiere Lighthouse

Corbiere Lighthouse is located on the southwest tip of Jersey and is one of the most photographed landmarks on the island. The iconic lighthouse was the first in the British Isles to be built of reinforced concrete and its unmanned, automatic light is visible for 18 miles (29 km) in clear weather. It stands 35 feet high on a tidal island 500 yards out at sea, surrounded by formidable looking rocks.

At low tide, the lighthouse is accessible by way of a causeway. Be sure to check the tide times and be alert for the siren warning that the causeway is soon to be covered by the sea. Take time to look in the rock pools around the causeway and discover the small sea creatures that live there. You might see red anemones, prawns hiding in the seaweed, rare shells, tiny spider crabs and even the small Brittlestar starfish.

Corbiere Phare restaurant offers coffee, lunch, or dinner as well as panoramic views of this ever-changing landscape.  There is also a stall that sells Jersey Dairy ice-cream and is very popular throughout the summer.

There are public toilets and plenty of free parking available should you choose to tackle one of the many cliff path walks that lead from Corbiere.

Visitors can also reach Corbiere via bus route 12a or 22 of the public bus service.
