My journey in clinical practice began with the Jersey Addiction Group as a trainee counsellor and after attaining an Intermediate Certificate in Counselling Skills realised I needed to further my experience and qualifications in the U.K.
I trained and then was employed by Broadreach House Plymouth,a leading Residential Unit for Drug and Alcohol Dependency in the South West of England. During this time I passed their Diploma in Addiction Counselling and I also undertook specialised training in which I gained certificates in Motivational Interviewing ,Working with Self Harm,Eating Disorders,Training in Sexual Abuse and Trauma and Blood Borne Viruses.
I returned to Jersey in 2006 and became the Programme Director/Reg.Manager of a Residential unit for Drug and Alcohol Addiction and established the framework and organisation of their Half-Way House. Following this I worked within the Criminal Justice System and am now in Private Practice offering both Counselling and Clinical Supervision.
I have gained the National Counsellor Accreditation Certificate with the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals (F.D.A.P.) and hold the United Kingdom Registered Independent Counsellor /Psychotherapist (U.K.R.C.P.) status and am an Accredited and Registered Member of A.T.S.A.C (Assoc, for the Treatment of Sex Addiction and Compulsivity) and also the F.D.A.P (Federation of Drug & Alcohol Practitioners). and the E.A.S.(European Assoc. of Supervisors).
My training in Supervision with the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter involved using the Models of Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Narrative , Art and Drama based techniques and the use of Metaphor. This 2 year course led to my Accreditation with the E.A.S. and my Diploma in Supervision with the Iron Mill Institute.
